The 20th World Diabetes Congress in Montreal is only 7 months away. Now is the perfect time to plan your trip for one of the largest and most important gatherings of the global diabetes community.

The World Diabetes Congress is the ideal place to network, share experiences and strategize on how we the diabetes community are going to work together to catalyze the political change needed to turn the tide of an epidemic that currently affects more than 250 million people.

Grant programme

Are you under 30 [at the time of the congress], aiming for a professional career in healthcare, but can’t afford the travel to Montreal? If so, you could be eligible for our grant programme, which provides travel grants for participants with limited resources to attend the Congress. The application deadline is 3 April 2009.

Global reach

Over 130 national diabetes associations will meet in Montreal with leading diabetes experts, companies and organizations to set common goals and coordinate activities to improve diabetes care and prevention efforts worldwide. Excitement is already building: “We are hugely grateful that we can go to this convention [the World Diabetes Congress], which will allow us to access the latest knowledge and research on managing diabetes. It’s a huge boost,” said John Denton, GM of Diabetes New Zealand in an interview with The New Zealand Herald on 30 November 2008.
