Global Village & Diabetes Café

Over 150 IDF Member Associations have confirmed their attendance at the congress. IDF Member Associations will form a Global Diabetes Village, where they will showcase their national activities and exchange best practices. The centrepiece of the Global Village is the Diabetes Café where Debates, Open Forum, and Speakers’ Corner sessions will tackle diabetes issues in a dynamic and interactive atmosphere. Two programme streams – Living with Diabetes & Association Development - will be held in the Village. The Diabetes Café will also be linked to the IDF exhibition stand to create an exciting hub for the diabetes community.

Association spotlight - Uruguay

For our association, Asociación de Diabéticos del Uruguay (ADU), the World Diabetes Congress is an opportunity to share and gain knowledge and experiences which will allow us to revise and improve our objectives, our projects and our association. We are surprised and moved when other associations in our region emphasize the importance of our job and see our association ADU as a solid organization. We are who we are because of all the people that have and are participating in ADU and because we are convinced of the importance of observing what others do. There is no association better than another. Together, as the International Diabetes Federation, we learn how to share our ideas and objectives ensuring a faster growth and development. In Montreal our intention is to show and share the history, services and projects emerging from a country of 3.3 million people where things are done in a big scale, bigger than the country itself. Our message in the Congress will be one of strength, unity, collaboration and friendship, values so appreciated at this time but most certain will be the common denominator for those attending the 20th World Diabetes Congress.
