World Diabetes Congress news alert June 2009

The International Diabetes Federation is an umbrella organization of over 200 national associations, spread throughout the world. The Federation creates a powerful global voice for diabetes. IDF’s greatest strength is our massive grassroots base that can mobilize change – like we achieved with the United Nations Resolution on diabetes – to improve the lives of the over 250 million people living with diabetes worldwide and the many more at risk. Join us in Montreal to lobby for change for people affected by non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, which threatens to overwhelm healthcare systems. Governments must act now. Let’s raise our voices and force political action for improved prevention, care and treatment of diabetes. To do nothing is not an option.

Association spotlight – IDF European Region

“The European Region of the International Diabetes Federation really looks forward to the 20th World Diabetes Conference in October, especially all the activities that will take place in the Global Diabetes Village.

We also have another great reason to be there: our Region will for the first time in its history organize its General Assembly outside its own territory. The IDF Europe General Assembly will be held on 17 October in Montreal. So that's the place to be!”

Lex Herrebrugh - Regional Manager IDF Europe
