Programme

The Programme Committee has put together a state-of-the-art programme with an enticing international flavour. Each of the six streams offer exciting topics presented by top speakers. The best congress experience will be offered to participants through the creation of innovative and interactive sessions.

Streams and Sessions

The overall programme consists of debates, meet-the-expert sessions, open forum, speakers’ corner, symposia, teaching lectures, and workshops. In addition, oral presentations, poster discussions and poster presentations will be incorporated into the six streams:

Invited Speakers Programme

Debate

These will include sessions on controversial topics in the format of a discussion in which two opposing teams will defend and refute a given proposition.

Meet-the-expert

These sessions will provide the opportunity for participants to interact with one or more experts on a specific topic.

Open Forum

A topic of common interest will be introduced for discussion between a speaker and participants. Participants may put forward new ideas and question the speaker at any point.

Speakers' Corner

These are informal sessions for the critical evaluation and analysis of a topic by the speaker. Participants may question the speaker at the end of the lecture.

Symposium

Symposia will include latest findings in diabetes research, and current issues in therapy and education, as well as exploring subjects related to the organizational, economic and personal impact of diabetes.

Teaching Lecture

Recognized experts will give educational lectures on specified topics. This format will combine a lecture with audience interaction.

Workshop

Workshops will include the discussion of specific topics accompanied by practical demonstrations, problem-solving or hands-on training sessions.

Abstract Programme

Oral Presentation

Some accepted abstracts will be chosen for oral presentations enabling authors to communicate their research to a global audience.

Posters

Abstracts selected for poster discussion or presentation will be displayed from 10:00 until 17:00 (Monday-Wednesday) and from 10:00 until 14:00 (Thursday) in the Poster Area (Hall 220E). Delegates should kindly note that posters will not be continuously kept up for the entire duration of the congress but will be rotated.

Poster Discussion

An array of accepted abstracts will be chosen for poster discussion. Authors will present and discuss their findings with a small group. The sessions will take place from 12:00-13:00 and 13:00-14:00 (Monday-Wednesday) and are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each session can only accommodate a maximum of 15 participants. Participants can collect a headset, in exchange for the provided voucher attached to the registration badge, 30 minutes prior to the session from the Poster Discussion Desk located in the poster area. The headset must be returned immediately after the session. In case of loss or damage a fee of 300 EUR will be charged to the delegate.

Poster Presentation

A collection of accepted abstracts will be displayed as posters. Presenting authors should attend to their posters from 12:00-14:00.

Session recording policy

No session may be recorded or broadcast in any format by any attendee. The congress does itself record some sessions with the presenter's consent for webcasting for up to one year afterwards. Use of digital cameras to record individual slides (for personal use) is discouraged, and no device should be used above head level. Use of photographs of slides in any subsequent publication or presentation or other distribution is a breach of copyright and may result in prosecution by the owner of the data or ideas. Use of a flash is also forbidden.

Simultaneous translation

Translation from English to French will be available for all sessions in rooms 517BC and 517A. Headsets are subject to availability and on a first-come-first-serve basis. Delegates can collect a headset, in exchange for the provided voucher attached to the registration badge, 15 minutes prior to the session from the headset collection desk located outside rooms 517bc and 517a.
